Congestion pricing

After years of planning and debate, congestion pricing arrived in New York City in 2025. Our work began the summer before, as we hoped to tell New Yorkers about the benefits of a program that had become a political flashpoint.

This was a top priority project for the MTA. With lawsuits being filed and politicians wobbling or outright opposing the program, we needed to shore up support and show people how a new toll on automobile traffic would make their lives better. The campaign was built around three pillars: congestion pricing would make New York move faster, breathe easier, and work better.
